Crystal has been a part of the Chicago music community since she began Suzuki violin at age 3 ½, and truly believes every child can achieve excellence on their instrument, regardless of level or age. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, and went on to teach 4th and 5th grade orchestra in the Vernon Hills Hawthorn District 73 schools for 8 years, growing the program from 60 to 130 students. Crystal completed Suzuki Teacher’s Training under Ed Kreitman, Nancy Jackson, and Pat D’Ercole. She has been a part of many high-quality music programs in Chicago, including the Sherwood Music Conservatory, Merit Music Program, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Classical Symphony Orchestra, and the Music Institute of Chicago. While in college, she maintained a violin studio at The Music Shoppe in Bloomington, Illinois, showcasing her students at community events and recitals. Her teachers have included Kristin Hedlund, Reagan Brasch, Michael Hining, Michael Hall, Vadim Mazo, and Desiree Ruhstrat. She currently performs and teaches in Lake County, and cares for her three children.
